ag_artist_statement : My work as an artist is very personal and intimate as it often portrays myself or my emotions. I deal with many thoughts and experiences and strong emotions through it. My role as a woman is important here, also my two identities - my chechen and German - a woman torn between cultures and mindsets. This is what makes my life artistic itself and this is what I make my art about.
ag_biography : Milana Alaro (1997) is a self-taught chechen artist and architecture student, living and working in south-Germany, Constance. She is a lover of all kind of arts from childhood on and a freelance artist since 2016. Her art is figurative, abstract and neo-expressionistic, the main content is the human being in form of emotions and interpersonally connection. her own physical existence, story, experiences, identity and role in this world are decisive here. The art is supposed to interact with the observer through colors, expression and composition. Milana Alaro is working as also working as an art instructor and a lecturer in 'experimental design' at the htwg in Constance. She was exhibited in group exhibitions in Augsburg and Constance (Germany), also in Zurich (Switzerland) and in a currently ongoing virtual exhibition curated by MIA art collection. An exhibition in Grosny, Russia is planed for the upcoming year.
ag_influences : My bicultural identity has definitely a big role when it comes to my art. Being chechen and german at the same time, is sometimes quite challenging, and other times a total blessing. Also my role as a woman - a woman in this world in general and a woman with this bicultural identity. Being. A black sheep in one society, makes you special in the other. Topics like this are sometimes quite frustrating, by ordering those resulting emotions into art, i see beauty even in harder times.
