Liliana Cecchin
She Is Enchanted by Nonexistent Time, the Time Erased by Hurry
Her pictorial research focuses on portraiture and the movement of people in crowded places such as supermarkets, stations, subways, and city arcades. She depicts people coming and going in major cities including Turin, Milan, Bologna, London, Paris, and Hong Kong. Her subjects include ordinary people, businesspeople, women, mothers, children, young people, and the elderly, offering a reflection of the “human traffic” in which we immerse ourselves every day.
In her works, a sense of loneliness emerges through the empty spaces of floors and streets, standing in stark contrast to the frenetic movement of the people walking through them. These figures often pass one another without meeting or speaking, absorbed in their everyday lives and concerns.
