My work delights in the wonders of divine creation. Tapping into my visual surroundings and the inspired memories of my travels, I source shapes, colors, and textural details. I paint in watercolor and ink with gesso on paper and incorporate candle wax to add depth and texture to my pieces. Saturation of rich, jewel toned hues and layers of glazes define my mixed media artwork. Although color is usually my primary focus, I am equally fascinated with the drama of macro subjects that lead the viewer to question the origin of the inspiration. Closeups of fruit, palm fronds, pebbles, leaves, and intricate treasures of the sea merge harmoniously in whimsical abstractions. I am in awe of the light shining underwater through a kelp forest, the rough surface of oyster shells, or pebbles glistening in the sun after a thunderstorm. I cherish the preciousness of God’s creation and seek to inspire a reverence for the beauty of our natural environment.
