I paint portraits and human figures that explore the vast range of human emotions and behaviors. My work captures facial expressions or isolated body parts, as a way to explore the psychology of the human experience; although I am particularly drawn to the sensuality of the female body. I paint on paper with a squirrel brush, using India ink, watercolors, and acrylics. I never mix pigments, but apply the paint directly in numerous layers for greater plasticity and color vibrancy. I use strong lines that create contrast and tension for powerful and dramatic compositions, varying the palette and linework based on the mood of the moment. Overall, I seek to move the viewer and create an emotional connection with my work.
