Syoichi Kobayashi

My artistic journey is a translation of sensory inspiration into tangible creations. With a heightened awareness of the five senses, I strive to infuse every piece with the essence of what moves me. Living in rural Japan, I distill my perceptions of human, animal, and plant life into my work, while contemplating broader themes of mortality, existence, and global dynamics. 

My process starts with a thought. After that, I draw a sketch and build layers of acrylic paint on the canvas moving from thin to thick applications. In addition to acrylic painting, I use hemp string, paper, and sand to build texture and add a narrative quality to my paintings.
