I was born and raised in Iraq; an ancient culture renowned for its rich historical traditions. The artistic heritage of Mesopotamia along with the pioneering work of contemporary Iraqi abstract artists have provided a fertile ground for my art to blossom. Despite the monumental challenges of growing up in a country ravaged by numerous wars, I was able to find joy in art and create my own definition of beauty. I take cues from natural and urban environments, jotting down impressions on a sketchbook that never leaves my side. These could include shapes, patterns, textures, feelings, or colors. My palette is dominated by neutral tones and blues, signifying the earth, water, and sky; elements that are ever present on the planet and provide sustenance to all beings. Each of my paintings conveys a message of gratitude, hope, beauty, and perseverance. There is beauty everywhere, and it is up to us to find it in the humblest things. Beauty is the illumination of our perception of the world. Dreams come true through belief and perseverance.
