I'm a Spanish American artist dedicated to painting and conceptual art, emphasizing the importance of creativity and the arts in education and society. Following persecution in my home country after years of political activism, I was forced into exile with my family in the Netherlands in 2014 and we never came back to our country. Five years later, in 2019, we came to the USA, I could see that there was a coherence between the peace that feeling free produces and the peaceful beauty of the flowers in the nature that surrounds us in the Kansas prairie. My Bottles and Flowers series centers on the theme of freedom. Bottles allow us to contain liquids essential for life, such as water or wine. Yet there is another use that can be given to bottles when they are empty; they can function as vases to protect and display flowers at home. Metaphorically, they operate as a system that contains the life of the country and also the beauty of flowers, symbolizing resilience in the face of adversity.
