Michael Dangel

My artistic practice focuses on printmaking, combining traditional techniques such as woodcut, etching, and lithography with contemporary digital methods, including vector illustration, digital sketching, and 2D animation.

I also explore experimental processes such as polyester lithography and drypoint on Tetra Pak, while drawing on historical techniques such as Japanese color woodblock printing (Mokuhanga).

My artistic work addresses important issues of our time, including the fragility of democracy and human relationships.

Themes such as urbanity, fragmentation, and perception are often reduced to essential graphic elements, allowing complex subjects to be explored through a clear and concentrated visual language. Human experience and its relationship to the environment and to itself are often at the center of my work, even when the human figure itself is not visibly present.
