Jeffrey Yentz

Thanks in part to the places I have lived, visited, and experienced, I find certain images lock into my psyche and wait to be creatively unlocked through my pen and ink translations. My process is to settle on the subject at that moment of inspiration and then lay it out in charcoal pencil. Taking a “step backward,” I begin the initial ink linework, followed by cross-hatching to create depth and subtle shadowing. This then determines whether to use colored pencils, markers, or a combination of both, with the final effort adding gentle charcoal pencil features, as the piece directs me.

My themes are so diverse that each drawing is a new experience, telling a story and/or evoking an emotion.
