I paint nature-inspired scenes that capture the fleeting beauty of our environment and explore the profound connection between humanity and the vastness of the universe. My motifs are inspired by visual themes and symbolism in ancient civilizations, such as Byzantine mosaics, Egyptian frescoes, primitive African art, and Central Asian shamanism.
Through a meticulous layering process, I build relief from a base of ink and watercolor washes, adding acrylic paint and homemade mediums made with heavy body paint, sand, charcoal, plants, and found objects.
My latest series reflects my fascination with gardens as sanctuaries of beauty and shelters against the perils of the world. Each painting is a window into a secret realm, a pocket of heaven where we can reconcile with our primordial roots. By activating our primeval connection to nature, I invite viewers to reclaim their place on the planet and their responsibility to preserve it.
