Exhibition I feel a strong affinity to nature, especially the mountains, rivers, and bush of New Zealand’s South Island. I paint both on location and indoors. My plein air trips are in my 4WD which I have adapted specially to carry art gear and large paintings and often are off road up mountain rivers to remote places. With my studio works I try to carry the freshness of the outdoors experience using my sketches and photos from my painting trips. I use both palette knife and brush work in the oils loving the dexterity of both. When away, I paint both in oils and watercolors. I am entranced by the afternoon light and the magical effect it has on the countryside and my desire is to try to capture those magic moments that wow me.
