I draw on the ideas of the modern movement such as the simplification of forms, the absence of ornament and the use of prefabricated and removable modules. Additionally, I explore architectural concepts such as space, order, shadow, volume, and geometry to create surfaces. These concepts and ideas are translated into sculptural pieces that have been conceived harmoniously and in symmetrical balance, generating patterns that lead the observer to sensory experiences. My intention is for my pieces to encourage viewers to explore the dialogues between architecture, art, and design, and interpret the relationship of the human being with his environment to improve society.

ag_biography : Andrea Collante born in Barranquilla, Colombia in 1988. Studied Architecture at Universidad Piloto de Colombia in Bogotá and graduated in 2013. After working in different areas from construction to managing events for exhibitions decides in 2016 to pursue goals that allows to create and execute her own ideas. Her work is about to communicate the relation between architecture, design and art through patterns, textures and surfaces. Her interest is to carry out artistic projects for private and permanent collections as well as itinerant exhibitions.
ag_influences : Well, i have begun my path as a textile art. Here in Colombia we have the magnificent artist Olga de Amaral and I think she has opened the doors, not only nationally but internationally, for the textiles creatives so this kind of art can be seen as fine art and as a luxuriuos object. For me as I stated the objetive of my artworks is to communicate the relation between architecture, arts and design and this has helped that my work is appreciated even more if we were in 1960's (just to say that times has change and for good).

Colombian artist Andrea Collante creates mixed media works in which the artist combines unique materials into woven sculptures. Using techniques borrowed from traditional textile weaving. Collante focuses on organic movement, the simplification of forms, and the use of prefabricated and removable modules.

Her degree in architecture influences her work as she explores concepts such as space, order, shadow, volume, and geometry. These concepts and ideas are translated into pieces that have been conceived harmoniously and in symmetrical balance. Each unique sculpture explores dialogues between architecture, art and design and interprets the relationship of the human being with his environment to improve society.
