Sher Christopher’s captivating paper sculptures strike a note of intrigue in the compelling characters and portraits she is representing. Christopher trained as a three-dimensional artist at the University of Wolverhampton and sought to create three-dimensional sculptures from the unexpected medium of paper. Christopher’s paper sculptures have a quality of detail and precision that plays nicely to the stylized character of the pieces themselves. Each composition evokes a drama, a mood, a daring scene.
She says, ‘Characters have always fascinated me, in life as well as in others’ work, and the ability to create figurative sculptures in an unlikely medium provides me with constant inspiration’. Christopher’s work offers an unusual and exciting perspective to her viewers. We are drawn into the imagination and story of each character or portrait she creates. Sher Christopher’s work has been exhibited widely throughout her native England both in solo and group shows. She has her studio in Dorset, England and divides her time between her homes in the South of England and in California.
